For over 30 years I am passionate clock collector of mechanical wrist-watches.
First I collected brand clocks such as Rolex, IWC, Patek Philippe etc..
Later discovered I mean preference for Hamilton clocks (the Rolex of America). Parallel to it collected I my first character watches.
Unfortunately over it literature hardly gives.
Thus this book with a selection of my collection of motive clocks developed.
In different books concerning American wrist-watches I saw illustrations of mechanical character watches.
These aroused my interest.
Thus began I my collection with character watches.
Since I visit since the 80ern nearly all clock stock exchanges in Europe, I found there again and again other piece.
Also on flea markets I discovered now and then some watches.
Meanwhile my collection increased 2500 copies different of character watches on far over.
In Europe it gives to find unfortunately ever less, so that I got many watches in the last years, over the Internet from the USA.
In this book I present a selection of my personal collection of character watches.
The shown character watches are exclusive in my private property.
Actually I am collector of mechanical wristwatches.
Thus I put on a small collection also here.
This book is not a price leader for the shown character watches.
You can find watches in each price range, begun from few dollars or Euros into the range four digits.
The prices vary depending upon preservation condition and age of the watch.
If the watch is still in the original packaging it sometimes costs it also easily the double.
Rare pieces are naturally more expensive.
Also the demand determines the price.
On the average for example Bradley watches between 50,00 – 100,00 euros cost.
Watches before 1960 cost mostly starting from 100,00 euros upward.
With quartz watches the price is usually under 50,00 euros.
I held the illustrations with intention in same size to be able to regard however around the motives better.
There are many watches in differently sizes, in addition I gave, also not however no data the movement.
I determined the order of the illustrations alphabetically according to topics.
Sometimes it occurs nevertheless that a watch in other place is, lies to the fact that I assigned it in this case to a topic.
Perhaps despite all trouble me or other error is with the determination of the manufacture date or the description occurs.
I wish much joy in that to each collector tank and viewer variety of the illustrations.
